Behind each bag lies the story of Chorrera, a small township between Barranquilla and Cartagena that has become a showcase of craftsmanship in Atlántico. There, in 2002, a group of women founded the Asociación de Artesanos de Chorrera, and in 2011 the brand Arte y Tejido was born. Their work revives the crochet technique using natural and artificial fibers, combined with leather, to create the iconic Colombian mochilas.

More than just a craft, this project represents empowerment and social transformation: today, over 150 artisans, thanks to standardized processes and the support of Fundación Gases del Caribe, have managed to bring their pieces to national and international markets, improving their families’ quality of life while keeping a cultural legacy alive.
